Digital Waste Audit

Bring visibility to your waste.

BEE Sense replaces estimates and manual audits with clear insight into waste composition and sorting quality, supported by AI-driven, tailored improvement insights.

Waste Analytics & Tools

Diversion Rate Tracking

Monitor waste stream volumes by category (landfill, recycling, compost, e-waste) in real-time to calculate and trend diversion rates. Track progress toward zero waste goals and LEED certification requirements.

Hauling Optimization

Analyze bin fill rates and collection schedules to optimize hauling frequency and reduce unnecessary pickups. Minimize waste management costs while ensuring bins don't overflow.

Contamination Detection

Identify contamination events in recycling and compost streams through weight and frequency pattern analysis. Provide immediate feedback to building occupants and operations teams to improve sorting behavior.

Portfolio Waste Benchmarking

Compare waste generation intensity across buildings normalized by occupancy and floor area. Identify facilities with successful waste reduction programs and replicate best practices across your portfolio.

Reduce landfill waste and contamination

Waste monitoring brings visibility to your waste streams, showing what materials are being discarded, in what quantities, and where they come from.By identifying sorting errors and contamination early, monitoring helps improve recycling and composting performance and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Lower waste management costs

Clear data on waste volumes and composition helps optimize collection frequency, bin sizes, and contracts, reducing unnecessary hauling and disposal costs.

Improve operational efficiency

Continuous monitoring allows teams to spot issues early, respond faster, and reduce complaints before they escalate.

Track sustainability and diversion goals

Monitoring waste over time allows teams to measure diversion rates, recycling performance, and progress toward ESG, LEED, WELL, TRUE, or internal sustainability targets.

Support behavior change with data

Visual, easy-to-understand waste insights make it easier to engage staff and occupants, reinforce good sorting habits, and support targeted training or signage.

Prepare for reporting and compliance

Reliable waste data simplifies internal reporting and supports external disclosures, audits, and regulatory requirements with consistent, traceable information.

Data Points & Insights

Total Amount of Waste

The total volume or weight of waste generated over a given period, showing overall waste output.

Diversion Rate

The percentage of waste being diverted from landfill through recycling, composting, or other recovery methods.

Recycling Rate

The proportion of total waste that is correctly processed as recyclable material.

Composting Rate

The share of organic waste that is properly composted instead of going to landfill.

Landfill Performance

The amount of waste that ends up in landfill, highlighting inefficiencies or contamination issues.

Material Breakdown

The composition of the waste stream, including paper, plastic, metal, organics, and other materials

Performance Comparison

Differences in waste generation and sorting efficiency across buildings, floors, rooms, or individual bins, showing where performance varies.

Hardware-Free Setup

No sensors, no installations, no disruption.

BEE Sense Waste Audit is completely hardware-free. All you need is a smartphone (or tablet) to take a photo of your waste. The rest – analysis, calculations, and insights – is handled automatically by our software.

You can also use existing security cameras where appropriate, making it easy to start without adding new equipment or infrastructure.

How It Works

01  Capture & Upload

A staff member, cleaner, or building operator takes a photo of a bin, dumpster, or waste pile using a phone, tablet, or an existing security camera. The image is uploaded directly to BEE Sense.

02  Automated Analysis

AI identifies material types, detects contamination, estimates bin fill levels, and calculates approximate weight. Results are automatically uploaded to the BEE Sense dashboard, where waste data can be tracked over time, compared across spaces, and turned into clear insights.

03  AI-Powered Improvements

Based on the analysis, AI-driven recommendations highlight recurring issues and suggest practical actions to improve sorting quality, reduce contamination, and increase diversion rates.
